     Vandevelde Architects continues to focus on custom single-family residential projects.  Based in the small foothill community of Sierra Madre, our office designs entirely new structures as well as additions and remodels.   Past and current jobs include work throughout Southern California, but the majority of our projects are found within 15 miles of our office – primarily in the surrounding cities of Pasadena, South Pasadena, La Canada Flintridge, Altadena, and San Marino.

Our approach to design follows a proven course regardless of the project’s size or scope.  When remodeling or enlarging an existing structure, consistency and sensitivity are paired with the client’s programmatic needs to create new spaces that are in harmony with the original structure and its surroundings.  When the project involves entirely new construction, the client’s desires for space, function, and architectural character are integrated within the context of their site and budget.  Beginning with conceptual sketches and ending with the smallest, most refined details, the design process remains the product of client interaction and professional guidance.  A complete understanding of local building codes, planning guidelines, and construction costs, allow design development that is equally creative and pragmatic.
